itinerary

DAy 1

Arrive into Bishkek and be transferred to your guesthouse. Depending on your arrival time take the opportunity to explore some of the city, check out the Osh Bazaar for a real cultural treat. The guest and team convene over dinner.

day 2

Wake early to breakfast before heading towards Chong-Kermin national park. Here we hit our first trails of the week in a relatively untouched environment of natural beauty. The park is varied in landscape from forest to desert and is home to some rare species including Snow Leopards and even the Golden Eagle. We stay in the area for a night in a local guesthouse.

day 3

After breakfast, we go out for another run in the national park returning to a different area move again this time in the direction of lake Issyk Kul. We take the northern shoreline as we cross the plains to the East and head towards Karakol, the gateway city to the Tien Shan Mountains and cultural heart of this province. Here you will find the Dungan mosque and Holy Trinity Cathedral as you spend the afternoon in the city before we head a little deeper into the mountains ahead of the next days trail running.

Day 4

We navigate up a series of valleys before getting glimpses of the famous Ala-Kul lake. The approach and route taken to get to this point is off the beaten track and does not follow the popular hiking route from Karakol. We drop over the other side of this spectacular mountain lake and find our accommodation, a total of approximately 20km and 1500m ascent.

Day 5

Following a trail out of the camp to the east we are once again off the popular Karakol-Ala Kul trek and properly out in the wilds. We meet our support vehicle at the end of the day and have camp in the wilderness. Approximately another 20km with close to 1250m of ascent.

Day 6

We pick up the Archa Tor pass trail and follow this for it for its duration. Passing below some impressive 4000m peaks Once again we are met by our support vehicle and stay in traditional local camp for the evening.

Day 7

As we share a final breakfast is a chance to reflect on the journey before leaving the mountains and heading back to Bishkek. We break the scenic transfer back to Bishkek with a final shorter easier run to view another wonder of Kyrgyzstan, Konorchek Canyons. Once back in Bishkek we stay in the same accommodation as on the first night and leave you to explore the city for a couple of hours. An evening meal at a local restaurant provides the perfect antidote for the missing of the mountains.  Your outbound flight should be arranged for the following day.

Day 8

Breakfast in the hotel gives a final opportunity to say by to your new trail running friends and support team. Private transfers back to Bishkek International Airport are arranged for you to catch your outbound flight.
